day 6 (sudhi is 8 days old) - dec 27, 05

today she was given woodwards, gripe water, as subha had eaten chicken and others.

4 & 5

- normal life, no trouble, pooh color got changed from brown to yellow. as subha started secreting her milk.
- she also tried pumping her breast milk, that seems to be successful during night time.
- sudhi seems to be get tired if she sucks milk by herself. but that is where are doing,
- in day 2 and 3, we did try formula, but avoid during 4 and 5. subha managed to give her milk whenever she cries.

3rd day

- i took her to the lab directly for the test. there was some lab assist. in her infany, does not have any clue as to what needs to be done, and the blood work was so bad, sudhi started crying for almost 30 minutes, i started too...

- we went back home, and results came back -ve it as 12, decreased little so she is out of jaundice... and i decided i should not take her to the ped until she is 3 weeks old.

- subha and sudhi keep their schedule very well. and she was given first spong bath and put powder all over the body... she smells good now.. though.. that is the idea of subha's mum.

2nd day at home

- today i made a stupid mistake of taking her to the ped. (community hospital).
- it was xmas, ped are really busy.
- the ped was nice and started give subha some advice.
- ped thought he may have jaundice, without knowing the skin of our baby.
- she was given test for Bilirubin. the result of 14 and it was in the elevated level.
- in the lab, she cried a lot when trying to take the blood, but the singh who drawing her blood for nice and he wanted to go back to india for good when retired.
- and she weighs 7.(5)
- she was asked to do 2nd test.
- we were taken care very well. we started waking and feeding her. that seems to be subha's work. and mine too.
- slowly we figured out her schedule, she wakes early morning, and sleeps thru out the day.

1st day at home

Day - 1
- Sudhi and Subha were discharged from the hospital on Thu, dec 22 around 2 pm, reached home at 3 pm.
- she entered the home and was fussy. nothing controls her except the pacifier.
- we were trying lots of options, finally found that she wants to be hold. that actually stopped her.
- she was sleeping all the time today, no sure how to wake and feed her. subha does not have a clue.
- called subha's friends, one seems to make sense, other does not have any clue. with the clueless friend advice we went to see the ped.
- we realized we have to wake and feed her, sudhi does not have any control over her feeding behavior.
- still trying to figure out sudhi's schedule.

baby got home

today around 3pm, we brought sudhiksha home, yes, that is my daughter's name, i was very excited to brought her into my new apartment.

chithra helped us a lot in bringing the baby in, it was very nice of her...

sudhiksha is in right now, apparently crying for mum all the time for milk...that's what subha's mum told her that it is a curse given by god that if you eat your baby will look for food...

i have to do the following:

1) pedestrian (1st visit)
2) finalize names and send the forms to hillcrest
3) apply for birth certificate
4) apply for passport
5) apply for PIO card

got a girl. (12/20/05 - tuesday 9:46 pm)

finally after a 12 hour marathon, our girl is born, she is 6 lbs 13 ounces... she is doing perfectly fine... she could listen to my voice...

9:00 am - we entered the hillcrest hospital
10:00 am - petocin was strated by mary lou, susan, karen
2:30 pm - she felt real painful contraction
2:35 pm - her water broke, she got scared. i was away with balaram eating lunch....
5:00 pm - moved to the delivery room
6:00 pm - she got epidurel (he took around 9 min to do it)
7:30 pm - baby moves down the cervix
9:00 pm - gita metha arrived and looked at the baby... push was the word we often used from then on
9:46 pm - my girl was out, thru vaginal delivery... it was so amazing experience, everyone should feel that... it

2:30 am - back at home as the baby and subha stayed back at the hospital as she got a shared bedroom where nobody can stay.
